Mitsubishi released the fifth-generation Minicab as a pickup and as a van in 1991. The model was again developed to comply with Japan's kei car regulations, but changes to the tax code allowed Mitsubishi to make it slightly longer. While the Minicab was never sold in the United States, it was immensely popular in its home country as a workhorse and as a leisure vehicle. Production ended in 1999.
Power comes from a 659cc inline-3, rated at about 44 horsepower and 41 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear or all four wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission and a 2-speed transfer case.
